Martian Miner Infinity Reels™

Martian Miner sends players on a futuristic mining trip to Mars in search of hidden treasures! The reels are placed within a futuristic mining/drill unit amidst a dusky Mars backdrop, with the purpose for the player to drill as deep as possible to unearth the most expensive rewards, combining two popular slot themes: mining and space/exploration.

The game is designed for mobile portrait use, utilising the entire screen real estate. The reels are distributed horizontally, from right to left, and feature an industry first: extra Infinity Reels are appended vertically to the reels' bottom. By merging the mechanics of the game into the mining/ drilling motif of the game, this spin on the Infinity Reels mechanic helps to immerse the player into the theme of the game.

Martian Miner Infinity Reels™ Review

A rising star ReelPlay's Infinity Reels mechanism has been licensed by BB Games to power their third release, Martian Miner Infinity Reels. BB Games had previously used pretty common themes, thus Martian Miner Infinity Reels is even more of a departure. However, if you go deeper into how BB builds their games, you'll see things like double grids, indicating that they like to do things differently over there. This is unquestionably true when it comes to Martian Miner Infinity Reels. There is a slew of Infinity Reels slots in the works right now, but none are quite like this one.

Martian Miner Infinity Reels slot

At first appearance, you might think you've started a PG Soft Infinity Reels game. This is due to the fact that the standard 3-reel, 4-row grid has been jammed into a tiny region in the center of the screen, within a futuristic drilling apparatus. The remainder of the image displays a Mars base camp, with a distant sun lighting the reddish rocks and several bubble-shaped tents off in the distance. Though visually unappealing, it's an intriguing view that you don't often, if ever, see in slots.

Setting a stake ranging from 20 p/c to £/€100 every spin is required to participate in the excavation. Volatility is moderately high, and the return value is determined by whether you play regularly or activate the bonus buy. The probability of triggering free spins is naturally 96.06 percent, which rises to 96.18 percent when the 20 free spins bonus buy option is selected.

To win in Martian Miner, you must have at least 5 matching symbols land top to bottom from the upper reel. If the addition of the fourth reel enhances the win in any way, a new reel is added, and the same rules apply. New reels are added until the win cannot be improved upon, at which point the grid resets for the next spin. Despite the name, the reels are not limitless and have a maximum of 76 positions.

There are no fewer than 15 pay symbols on the board, 5 of which are 10-A royals, with the remaining 10 consisting of gems or metals such as iron, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and marsonite. Payouts are computed by multiplying the number of symbols that are participating by the paytable value. For instance, 5 marsonite symbols have a value of 15 times the total bet. Remember that jewels do not appear in the base game; they are only added to the reels during bonus rounds. Finally, the spaceman tile serves as the wild symbol, substituting solely for any of the pay symbols. Extra wilds are added to the base game's reels after the first 5 consecutive infinite wins.

Infinity Reels Martian Miner: Slot Features

The main feature of Martian Miner is a round of free spins, which is complemented by a Teleport Reel Modifier and a purchase bonus. Only in the base game does the Teleport Reel Modifier appear at random. When this feature is activated, players are transferred to a random depth to complete the spin. During the spin, the high-paying gem symbols replace the metal symbols.

When 10 or more reels are inserted, you will be awarded access to free spins. During this process, fuel cell symbols appear, and the amount of them gathered equals the number of free spins for the bonus round. High pay symbols are unlocked and replace lower paying symbols when the digger reaches certain depths during free spins (every 10 new reels). In addition, three new symbols occur during free spins:

  • Treasure chests give out monetary prizes right now.
  • Additional free spins are awarded when you find fossils.
  • Ankhs boost a victory multiplier.

Instead of waiting for free spins, if the option is available, you may be able to purchase them. There are three options: 12, 16, or 20 free spins worth 50, 75, or 100 times the total bet.

The Martian Miner Infinity Reels Slot Conclusion

It's unique, and some gamers may enjoy the experimental off-world journey. In an industry where the same old format, concepts, and features are often copied or rehashed, originality must be recognized. In that regard, Martian Miner may be so far ahead of the curve that he is difficult to relate to. One concern is that players who are used to reels spinning up and down may require some time to adjust to the sideways action. The up-and-down movement makes sense because it replicates the movement of a mining instrument when plunging into the ground. It is, however, an acquired taste that will either excite or cause motion sickness.

It's lovely. BB is experimenting, but some features of Martian Miner fall flat. For one thing, the grid appears to be crushed. A static wallpaper-like background image takes up a lot of area, setting the mood, and then it just sits there doing nothing but taking up space. Aside from the general oddity, several of the finer aspects, such as the bonus game symbols, don't seem to match. What is the significance of Ankhs in relation to Mars? Is BB implying that ancient Egyptians traveled the stars, leaving behind traces of their mystery journeys? Who knows, maybe the team just liked the design.

Moving on to gameplay, Martian Miner suffers from the standard merits and negatives present in most Infinity Reels games without doing anything to sway detractors' opinions or turn off admirers of the mechanism. The Infinity Reels concept has been used to good effect in the bonus game, emphasizing the mining motif as the machine drills into the Martian surface. If you can activate multipliers with Ankh symbols, it can mean the difference between a bad round and a good one.

Martian Miner Infinity Reels is one of those games that is so unique that a demo is required to develop an opinion about it. Who knows, it might be the game you didn't realize you needed in your life. Or, an annoyance that should be sent to Mars with the next probe and left to ice over.
