Divine Fortune MegaWays Review

Divine Fortune Megaways is a new video slot from NetEnt and a sequel to their original progressive jackpot slot, Divine Fortune. Divine Fortune Megaways is built around a Megaways layout, meaning there are 6 reels and up to 7 rows with 117,649 ways to win. Bonuses and features of the game include jackpots and a free spins round.

NetEnt is among the game developers that are always among the market leaders in the iGaming industry. They have long been considered a leading name in the online gambling industry, and their games - including the likes of Starburst and Drive: Multiplier Mayhem - have been played billions of times.

Theme and Symbols

Like the original, Divine Fortune Megaways takes place in ancient Greece. The game features incredible icon design and an enchanting soundtrack that transports you back in time. The jackpots are still there - although surprisingly they are no longer progressive jackpots, but fixed - or localized as they are usually called.

Where things really change is in the way the game is set up. Divine Fortune Megaways has a 6-reel format, and there are between 2 and 7 rows active on each spin. That means - assuming all 7 rows are active - that there are 117,649 ways to win, so there's already some significant winning potential on offer.

The highest paying symbol is Medusa herself, who offers a prize of up to 500 coins when six land on a payline. She is followed by a lion, a bull and an eagle. The lower paying symbols are the card representations A, K, Q, J and 10.

The Divine Fortune Megaways™ slot wild is represented by the majestic Pegasus, which spreads its wings when it drops onto the reels. The free spins symbol is represented by a lightning bolt in the hands of another god.

Choose your bet

NetEnt has happily decided to offer players a wide range of betting options. This allows you to bet between 0.10 and 100 credits on each spin. Winning paylines run from left to right and the number of combinations can be as high as 117,649 thanks to the Megaways feature. This is because the number of symbols that land on each reel can range from two to seven.

The slot comes with an RTP of 96.09% and a medium to high volatility, which we think is a great combination for big wins!

Note: The game itself has been described by NetEnt as medium variance so you can expect a relatively frequent number of wins, although the size of these wins is not up to the same standards as more volatile Megaways games such as Queen of Riches.

Divine Fortune Megaways Bonus Features

The features that the Divine Fortune Megaways™ online slot has to offer leave little to be desired.

Falling Wild Respins

This is a feature we saw in the original Divine Fortunes slot, and NetEnt has decided to keep it in Divine Fortune Megaways. The Pegasus symbol is not a normal wild. Once you get your winnings, the Falling Wilds Re-Spins is triggered, which means that this symbol will move down one spot for a re-spin. This continues until Pegasus has no more positions on the grid.

During these re-spins, if a second wild symbol falls in a position occupied by Pegasus, the Wild on Wild feature is triggered. The single symbol will expand to cover the reel and award all bet wins for that spin. The reels of the Divine Fortune Megaways slot will continue to spin with the Falling Wilds feature, rewarding you with up to seven re-spins.

Note: Once the re-spin is complete, all payouts are awarded again - for as long as Wild symbols remain on the screen. It is possible to land wild symbols over and over again, and this continues this mini-feature for quite a while.

Free Spins

The scatter symbol in Divine Fortune Megaways is represented by a hand holding a lightning bolt, and if you land 4, 5 or 6 anywhere in sight, the main free spins bonus is triggered. You will then receive either 10, 15 or 20 free spins. Each additional scatter symbol that appears on the base game trigger screen will give you an additional five free spins. During the free spins, the Falling Wild Respins feature is activated - and if you manage to land a wild symbol behind a wild symbol that is currently on the screen, the wild symbol expands to cover the entire reel - just like in the original Divine Fortune.

Divine Fortune Megaways Jackpots

We think it's a shame that NetEnt have decided to remove the progressive jackpots from Divine Fortune Megaways - and although they have tried to rectify this by including local jackpots inthe game, it's fair to say that the gameplay isn't quite as exciting as the original. During the free spins bonus, you will notice that there are three new Bonus Win symbols on the reels. These are bronze, silver and gold in color. If you collect five of these coins, you will receive a cash payout (the jackpots), and they are worth 10, 25 and 500 times your bet respectively.

The original Divine Fortune slot is a real hit and this slot has most of the same features but with 117,649 ways to win instead of 20. We find it really strange that NetEnt decided to remove the progressive jackpots as this was probably the main reason players played Divine Fortune in the first place. That being said, we think NetEnt missed the boat here by not including the progressive jackpots. With the Megaways mechanic active, you can build big wins - it's just quite strange that the bigger wins don't come from the jackpots, but from the base game and the free spins bonus!
